About

Art. Design. Business Owner.

The path of creative growth. That is the best way to describe my journey. It all started with fine art when I graduated high school early to attend Art Students League of New York. From there, during continued training as an artist, my horizons broadened. In 2002, I graduated from Rutgers University: Mason Gross School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Youthful dreams began to coexist with practicality, and the necessities of life decided it was time to have their say. The paycheck began to lead, and my experience diversified. After realizing the timeless value of technique, I completed a Master in Fine Arts degree from Academy of Art University with a focus in painting and drawing.

Some may say I am one of the founders of the contemporary hustle. Yet, unfortunately, side gigs are not cheap. One day, I mentioned my struggles to a stranger. He suggested I consider web development and guided me towards the first steps. After receiving a scholarship from Coursera, I began studies in web development.

I enjoyed HTML and CSS. Yet, I found JavaScript to be challenging. I brainstormed ways my creative background could be combined with this new knowledge. After discovering UI/UX, I decided to pursue a graphic design specialization. The original intent was to learn this skill to grow towards that skillset. However, I ended up also loving graphic design!

Once completing the Specialization in Graphic Design from CalArts/Coursera, I opened Viafique, a boutique design company focused on logo development. The process of owning a business has been one of my greatest life lessons, and the experience continues to guide my evolution. From no code solutions to finally learning JavaScript, Viafique LLC has been one of my biggest motivators.

With twists, turns, and bumps along the way, my road has yet to end. While running the business, I continue to develop skills which may be helpful for others; and, as I continue to observe, my horizons broaden. I am proud to say that I am an artist, business owner, graphic designer, and front-end web developer. It is exciting to see what else lies ahead.
